I am Sonia Medina, originally from Honduras and now an architect and designer based in Dallas, Texas, with over ten years of professional experience. My expertise spans architecture, interior and furniture design, project management, and academia. As a dedicated college professor, I inspire and mentor future designers and architects.
My mission is to democratize interior design by creating individual spaces that reflect personal identities and inspire creativity, balancing aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability in all my projects. My work is deeply rooted in the belief that our environments significantly impact our well-being and productivity. Drawing from my multicultural background and diverse skill set, I explore various mediums and techniques, from acrylic paintings on nature and climate change to paper mache, ceramics, woodworking, textiles, mixed media, digital sketching, collage, concrete lighting, and recycled material creations.
My artistic journey began in 2007 with my first exhibit at the Hotel Honduras Maya. In 2010, a selection of my photographs was published in a book by David Beyl. During my academic years, I exhibited on various campuses and, in 2021, performed "The Egg and the City" in London. Since moving to Dallas, I have conducted workshops at the South Dallas Cultural Center and, this year, featured one of my illustrations in the Lucha Libre Exhibit at the Latino Arts Cultural Center. Through my workshops and community engagement efforts, I strive to share my knowledge and passion for design, empowering others to create meaningful and sustainable spaces. I am honored to be a recipient of the prestigious Chevening Scholarship, recognizing my leadership and academic excellence.
